FAQ's

Answers to all of your tote questions

Is Tote Boss a moving company?

No, Tote Boss is not a moving company. We specialize in providing reusable moving totes for rent. We deliver the totes to your door and pick them up when you're done, but you handle the packing and moving yourself or with your chosen moving service.

What size are the totes?

Our standard totes are 27"L x 17"W x 12"H. This size is ideal for packing a variety of household items, from books and kitchenware to clothes and electronics. They are designed to be easy to stack and transport.

Is there a delivery or pick-up charge if I rent totes?

Delivery and pickup is always FREE if you are located in our service area. If you are outside the service area, or if you order fewer totes than our 25 tote package, there may be be a fee of up to $50.00. Also, any extra totes that you add on after purchase, there could be a fee. Call us if you have any questions.

How long to I get to keep the totes?

However long you want! No seriously. Need them 5 days, great. Do you need them for 4 months while your builder hopefully finished your new house? That works too! Pricing is based on time, (generally per week) so the longer you have them, the more cost. Check out pricing for details.  A credit or debit is required up front.

Can I keep them longer if I need more time?

Absolutely. We know moves have a funny way of taking longer than planned. Just let us know, and we'll extend your rental so you can finish unpacking without turning your living room into a permanent tote museum.

What is the cancellation policy?

We get it, things happen. You have enough to worry about with your move, and our whole goal is to make it easier. As long as you cancel 48 hours before your delivery date we’ll provide a full refund. We prep before all our deliveries, and we have to pay the poor saps for doing so. If you cancel within the 48 hours of your delivery date, there may be a restocking fee of $50. Give us a call if you have questions, and we’ll work with you.

What if I realize I need more totes while I am packing?

Don’t sweat it! It’s as simple as calling us and letting us know. Any additional order of fewer than 25 totes will have a $25 delivery fee in addition to the additional individual tote charge of $15. Any extra totes delivered, will be picked up at the same time and location of your original order.

Does someone have to be home when they are dropped-off?

Yes. We require someone over the age of 18 to accept the totes. You are renting our equipment, so the order will be confirmed and signature will be required.

If I hire a moving company can I still rent totes?

Of course! You have a couple of options: if you want the movers to pack your belongings, let them know you already have totes for moving and ask them to discount their fee for the boxes you won’t be using, along with the time that they won’t be assembling and taping up boxes. Otherwise, pack the totes yourselves and pay the movers just for moving them.

Do I need tape for the totes?

Nope, no more tape and its many undesirable tagalongs: annoying plastic dispenser with the dull serrated edge, trying to rip off a piece with your teeth when you can’t find the scissors that you know you just put down somewhere, using your fingernail to find the edge to peel up – again. We offer label cards and you can use zip ties if you want to lock them.

What about packing paper or bubble wrap?

Our totes are way stronger than cardboard boxes and they will protect your things much better too! But this is up to you. It’s your stuff going in them, so you do you.

Can I order for delivery within 24 hours?

Great question! As long as we have the inventory and time then yes, you can. A small gotcha… a rush order charge of 10% of the rental price will be added. Also, you’ll need to call. Our online checkout process won’t allow for orders that soon.
